Bennie Alert!

Followers of my blog and of my column on CBC radio will know I have been on the hunt for a really good eggs Benedict. Well, another contender has surfaced at Culina at the Muttart, where I had brunch on Sunday.

The new café space, which opened less than a week ago in the beautiful glass pyramids in Cloverdale, has a bank of bright windows overlooking what will be a great outdoor patio come summer. Bright poinsettias graced each of the dozen or so tables in the new café, which serves cafeteria-style meals and snacks seven days a week. Chef and owner Brad Lazarenko was behind the counter, making sure the eggs fopr the Bennie were perfectly poached. (By the way, the new café has a big wall of bookshelves that Chef Brad hopes to fill with your used novels, children’s books and magazines. Bring your literary donation to the restaurant and get 10 per cent off your order until the end of December.)
